Tonight I felt inspired
so I went and grabbed a pen
Then I sat down by the fire
with the hope to write again.
I hoped to write a poem
about a love or just a tree
Or perhaps just words of beauty
that were locked inside of me.
But as I searched for words to rhyme
a mighty storm did rage
Till anger welled up from my soul
and leaked onto the page.
There were no words of beauty
nor of love or just a tree,
Only those of pain and sorrow
that were once inside of me.
Instead I took my pen in hand
and wrote to God above
I asked him why his angels came
and took away my love.
I sat in tearful silence
as I stared upon that page
But God would not respond to me
and left me with my rage.
So I grabbed a sheet of paper
and I tried to start anew
But another shot of whiskey
was the best that I could do.
Tonight another ink stained page
Another angry pen
Tomorrow is another day
perhaps I’ll try again.
Richard Swanwick says:
God always answers – sometimes the answer is “no.” Meaning He is not responsible for taking away your love, He didn’t order your love canceled, God is Love and “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” [John 3:16] He wants you to love. He wants you to love Him. He wants you to love yourself. “God so loved the world” means He loves you – and here we are in the Easter Season . . . proof if you will. 🙂
