Autumn Lost

By D.C. Young

I watch the geese fly south beneath the autumn sky
a phone call said you left today,
I wish that I could fly off with them…
l’d fly away.

Our love once held the promise of tomorrow
I loved you more than words could say,
but when we ran out of tomorrows…
I flew away.

The geese have now flown off into the distant sky
and just like us they disappeared,
Though you’re in heaven I still love you…
you’ve flown away.
