One day when I was just a boy those winds began to blow,
from where they came or where they went are things I did not know.
I only knew that when they came they brought along the rain,
and soon I learned to fear those winds that caused me so much pain.
The winds of loss will often cross the path of every man,
and though we try to turn away we cannot change God’s plan.
They’ll blow away the days of joy then blow away the years,
they’ll carry off the ones we love and leave us with our tears.
They’ll blow away a man’s good health they’ll take away his fame,
they’ll blow away the sands of time and then erase his name.
I wonder now how can it be no walls can stop the winds,
which seem to be a judgment passed that only God rescinds.
The winds of loss will often cross the path of every man,
and though we try to turn away we cannot change God’s plan.
Barbara W OConnor says:
Thank you. Its a poem I can relate to. God doesn’t need my approval not nearly as bad as I need his. Its amazing that he loves me so.
Randy Ferguson says:
It’s much too soon for me to call this one my favorite, but it certainly will be one of them.
Vic Koltys says:
You are definitely a modern day poet. It is so easy to relate to your message
